BRIEF HISTORY
The Methodist movement reached Kirkcaldy in 1883 and the society initially met in Speedie’s Hall in Sinclairtown. The Sinclairtown society moved into the present building In 1888 and at that time it formed part of the Edinburgh Nicolson Square Circuit. In 1978 the Nicolson Square Circuit merged with the second Edinburgh Circuit of Tollcross to become the Edinburgh and Forth Circuit. During the latter part of the nineteenth century and well into the twentieth century the Methodist movement continued to develop and the church family expanded. However the early nineteen eighties proved to be a period of crisis and closure was seriously considered. Having reached a trough in our decline the church family celebrated a glorious centenary in 1988 and gentle growth has followed since.
