BRIEF HISTORY
In 1888 the Reverend George Jackson, a young Methodist minister, was invited to come to Edinburgh and "evangelise the west of the city". After a few years he had developed the work of the Edinburgh Methodist Mission to such an extent that there was need for a large building. The Methodist Central Hall at Tollcross was opened in October 1901.

BRIEF HISTORY
The church was built on the site of a former Secession Church which had been Wesleyan Methodist use from 1868.
The present building was erected in 1932 as a Central Hall Mission Church with a large worship hall seating 600 with old cinema style tip up seats. It was horizontally subdivided in 1985 with flexible worship area upstairs and community centre downstairs. This provides a central meeting / activity / cafe area, the Acorn Centre, with ancillary rooms downstairs and a dual purpose worship area upstairs

Brief History
Our Church has stood in the south west corner of Nicolson Square since 1816.
Though changed from its orginal interior appearance it still has a two-level worship area, with the organ in the gallery.
Extensive alterations have been made during the last 10 years.
Beneath the Main Church there is an attractive suite of rooms called The Square Centre. This is a Christian meeting place which aims to help identify and meet the needs of individuals and groups within the community.
Here you find a Community Café open Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm. We offer varied and tempting meals and light refreshments prepared on the premises by our professionally-led team, ensuring freshness, quality and fair prices.
There is also a Chapel which provides an oasis of peace and quiet for private prayer in a busy city
At the rear there is a Garden which includes disabled access to the building. Once a quarry, it has been transformed into a peaceful haven.
To the side of the building are the Epworth Halls which are used during the day by SACRO and in the evenings and weekends by different groups and for social occasions.
